How long is the tour?

  1. The Classic Coffee Tour is 1.5 hours long, not including transportation times.
  2. Coffee & Nature tour is 5 hours long, including lunch time but not the transportation times.

Once the tour is finished, what are the departure times?

  1. Classic Coffee Tour (11:00 am): departs Café Britt at about 1:30 pm.
  2. Classic Coffee Tour (3:00 pm): departs Café Britt at about 5:00 pm.
  3. Coffee & Nature Tour: From Britt to Inbio departs at 1:30pm and from Inbio to your hotel at about 4:00 pm. 

What are your pick-up locations and at what times?

We offer transportation from the main hotels in the metro area at specific times. See transportation details.

What is the distance travelled throughout the tour?

The journey through our plantation and facilities is about 400 meters (0.24 miles), and therefore is perfect for people of all ages and physical abilities.

Can I take photos & video during the tour?

You can take as many pictures as you want during your visits. However, as per copy rights policies, video footage is not allowed at any point of the tour.

In what language is the tour made?

All our tours are in English, Spanish and bilingual, depending on each groups’ profiles. If visitors require translation to a third language and bring their own translator, we will happily accommodate a private coffee tour.

How much lunch time do I have if I take the tour?

We’ve assigned an hour for lunch at our on-site restaurant Don Prospero so you can enjoy the colorful gardens and the fresh breeze of our sustainable plantation. If you traveled to Britt by your own, you’re more than welcome to stay as long as you like and savor all the different Britt Coffees, chocolates and treats in this very special place.

What does the buffet lunch include?

Our buffet offers an assortment of dishes made with local ingredients in a contemporary fashion. Enjoy a salad bar, soup of the day, main dish with 5 different garnishes and White meat, dessert, natural beverage and iced tea.

If I don’t want the buffet, are there other alternatives?

Light snacks such as sandwiches, pastries and of course, a full assortment of hot or cold coffee beverages, are always available in our Coffee Bar for you to enjoy.

How should I dress or what should I wear for the tour?

Our dress code is simple: something very comfy and casual. Heredia can get a bit chilli during the rainy season so a warm sweater and long pants can do. During this season we also have capes and umbrellas available if those drops start pouring at any time during the tour.

What footwear should I use?

The most comfy pair you have! Tennis shoes or sandals can do. We recommend leaving out the high heels so that you can best enjoy your trip.

Where is Café Britt located?

Café Britt is located on the road to Barva de Heredia, from the Auto Mercado 400 meters north and 400 meters west. See map here!

Can I take a public bus to Café Britt?

Sure thing! We’re only about 1 km from the center of Heredia. You can take any bus to the center of Heredia from San Jose, Alajuela or any other province. Once in Heredia, take the bus to Barva. Its main stop is located at the south side of the Gym of the Liceo de Heredia. Or you can always simply as a cab to take you to Café Britt. Everyone knows where we are!

Can people with special needs take the tour?

Our facilities are equipped with ramps for easy access to all areas of the tour. People with special needs may use their wheel chairs without any problem in our facilities. For manual wheel chair use, visitors must have a companion to escort them through each stage of the tour.

Are there restrooms available for people with special needs?

Sure. We have restrooms specially designed for this within our facilities.

If I’m driving to Café Britt, ¿where can I leave the car?

We have private parking for all visitors who want to come to Café Britt on their own. It has private security 24/7 so that you can enjoy your visit to the fullest.

Do I need to take the tour to visit Café Britt?

Not at all! Our facilities are open to the general public 7 days a week, from 8.00 am ‘till 5.00 pm. You can visit us during this time, at any time and enjoy our exuberant gardens, typical masks exquisite, gourmet coffee bar and factory store. But since your visiting, why not take a tour? We’re sure you’ll have an unforgettable time!

Do I need to make reservations to take the tour?

We recommend making reservations prior to your visit to ensure your space and confirm the services required. But if for some reason you couldn’t book beforehand, we’ll be happy to have you join our tours at their usual schedules.

How much time in advance to I need to book a tour?

We recommend making your reservation with 24 hours in advance.

How can I book or make reservations?

There are 3 easy ways to do it:

  1. Online, by selecting Book. Choose from our 2 different tour alternatives: The Classic Coffee Tour, Coffee & Nature Tour. The system will require a credit card which will be process in a completely secure site (SSL certified) and will send a confirmation via email.
  2. By phone: If in Costa Rica dial 2277.1600 or if outside Costa Rica dial 011.506.2277.1600. Our bilingual staff will assist with questions, reservations or special requests. This services is available M-S from 8:00am-5:00 pm. A credit card will be required to guarantee your space, but it will not be charged until you reach the ticket booth.
  3. Vía email: Write to us at coffeetour@britt.com and include all details from date, name, number of people, to services required such as lunch or transportation. Our friendly staff will send you a form to fill out with your credit card’s information but it will not be charged until you reach the ticket booth. Once we receive the form, we’ll send an email confirmation.

For tours requiring transportation or lunch, we’ll request a credit card as backup of your reservation. Once you reach our facilities, you can choose to pay with the credit card on file or provide a different one.

Which payment methods do you accept?

You can pay in US Dollars, Costa Rican colones or with your credit card.

What are your cancelation policies?

  1. Reservations canceled 48 hours in advance are free of charge.
  2. Reservations canceled 24 in advance are charged 50% of the rate.
  3. Reservations canceled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged the full rate.

How can I cancel a reservation?

Just write to us at coffeetour@britt.com. Please don’t forget to include your reservation number or the full name under which it was made.
